“Together, we'll build resilience, confidence, and the skills needed to embrace life’s ups and downs.”

Holding Space for Children and Adolescents

With a heart full of empathy and experience in schools and private practice, I specialize in working with children and adolescents. I strive to normalize and validate emotional expression and encourage self-advocacy through conversation, play, and bibliotherapy. My approach is warm, non-judgmental, and tailored to each individual's unique journey. When uncomfortable feelings and unhelpful thoughts arise, I support clients in identifying and challenging those unhelpful thoughts. My goal is for your child to have a space where they feel safe, understood, and supported. Together, we'll build resilience, confidence, and the skills needed to embrace life’s ups and downs.

Engaging and Empowering Parents in the Therapeutic Journey

When working with elementary and middle school-aged children, my approach includes individual therapy sessions with your child and regular sessions with parents or caregivers. I believe that working together as a team is essential for the well-being of your child. At the same time, I want to assure you that what is shared during your child's sessions is held in strict confidence. This confidentiality is the foundation of our therapeutic relationship, creating a safe and trusting space for your child to express themselves freely. When parents and caregivers engage in the therapeutic process it creates a space to collaborate, and feel empowered and supported in meeting the needs of your child. These sessions may focus on understanding needs, setting goals, and implementing strategies/techniques at home and in the community. My goal is to provide caregivers with resources and strategies that extend beyond therapy sessions supporting you in continuing to foster connection, growth, and resilience in your child.

Psychoeducational Assessments

In addition to therapy, I conduct psychoeducational assessments. I view psychoeducational assessments as opportunities to highlight the pre-existing strengths of a child or adolescent and underscore opportunities to develop further. These assessments provide valuable insights into a child's cognitive profile, helping to identify strengths, challenges, opportunities, and tailored strategies for academic success. With this knowledge, I will outline effective intervention plans and advocate for your child's educational needs. As a former practicing school psychologist I am familiar with the school system and enjoy opportunities to collaborate with educators and participate in school IEP/504 meetings.

My Background

I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with my Educational Doctorate Degree in School Psychology. I have worked in a number of schools in the northern and northwestern suburbs as a school psychologist, and I am currently working toward licensure as a clinical professional counselor (LCPC). I am passionate about supporting families, children, and educators to collaboratively work with each other to meet shared goals. I strive to be an advocate and view each unique individual from a strengths-based lens. Within my role at FPS, I provide counseling services, conduct assessments, and provide school-based consultation.
