The Surprising Power of Belonging in Schools

Drawing upon research and 30 years of practice within schools, this workshop will help participants uncover the positive impact of belonging and describe how we can create a belonging community in our classrooms and in our schools.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Participants will be able to describe the positive impact of belonging on academic engagement, mental health, attendance, and trauma.

2. Participants will analyze factors that undermine student belonging and the educational and societal factors impacting staff and student's experience of belonging in schools.

3. Participants will reflect on how to best implement belonging strategies within their schools.
