“Therapy should be a collaborative process…”

Rebecca is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist working with pre-teens and across the lifespan. She has experience working with a variety of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), life transitions, family transitions, and difficult relationships. She believes in the centrality of the relationship between client and therapist, and works to cultivate positive, trusting relationships with everyone with whom she works. Rebecca enjoys working with schools, families, and other medical professionals to ensure that every client receives the most collaborative and highest possible level of care.

The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is the primary mode of change across different modalities. Therefore, Rebecca focuses first and foremost on building this relationship and creating a space in which clients feel comfortable. She does this through play, through detailed intake sessions, and by being a constant, reliable person in each client’s life.

Rebecca believes in the importance of evidence-based treatment tailored to the individual client. She has training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP). She works from a strengths-based perspective to assist and empower clients to work through big emotions. She believes that we all go through easier and more difficult periods of our lives, and works to build resilience so that clients are empowered to carry skills forward and apply them to new situations.

Therapy affords individuals to dive into aspects of themselves they may not otherwise explore. It provides a devoted time to focus on oneself, which too often gets pushed aside in the fast pace of life today. She believes that therapy should be a collaborative process between client, their other medical providers, their school, family, and the therapist. She believes in the centrality of the client’s voice in the therapeutic process and in advocating for clients and their needs.
